Big Ten School Review
The co-founders of CletusFest have attended football games at every Big Ten Stadium.
Although each school visit includes great memories, we thought it would be helpful for Buckeye
fans to know what they were getting themselves into when considering a Big Ten road trip. Our
Rating is based on a Five Point Scale (5 being best):
Overall Rating: ***
Michigan Stadium
This is the worst stadium in the Big Ten. It might be nicknamed the "Big House", but every house I have been to has a bathroom and food INSIDE. Not in Ann Arbor. We would nickname it the "Outhouse" because you have to walk outside for anything but the game. The only redeeming quality to this hole in the ground is that they do have great tradition and can occasionally get loud.
Fans
When a visitor is not busy debating with an arrogant Wolverine fan, they are stuck in the Big House watching some guy in a 50's sweater leading the same cheer over and over again. We have been there multiple times, and rarely meet a group of people we would like to see again.
Tailgate/Parking
There are many parking lots around the stadium. Another choice is Pioneer High School. Any choice will include some solid tailgating. The UM fans might be annoying, but they bring all their tools to the tailgate. Lots of RVs, great food options, and a variety of beverage selection.
Nightlife/City Atmosphere
Ann Arbor has a really nice downtown, full of restaurants and shops. It is a nice city to visit. We recommend Scorekeepers as a club to visit when enjoying the evening. They have a Papa Joe's feel with an upstairs seating area and a downstairs dance floor.
